Sorrowful news: Carlos Rovira (1959-2021)
Dear RNA researchers,
We are sad to share the news that our colleague, an ambassador of the Swedish RNA Society, Carlos Rovira, has recently passed away after a long illness. Carlos was an expert on microRNAs and cancer genomics and was active at the Department of Clinical Sciences, Division of Oncology at Lund University Cancer Center. He was a passionate scientist, a knowledgeable and enthusiastic teacher and a great supervisor to many students, PhD students and postdocs through the years. Carlos was deeply involved since the very beginning with RNA Society of Sweden, having co-organized its second meeting in Örenäs Castle, Skåne in 2017. He was an incredibly positive, friendly, and charismatic person. He made a positive impact on everyone who knew him and will be truly missed.
Our condolences go out to Carlos’ family.
